Egg warmers

You will need: pattern sheet

(Tip : makes 4 egg warmers)

•green and white polka-dot cotton fabric, 1 m wide, 25 cm long

•iron-on volume fleece, 50 cm wide, 25 cm long

•red- or green-checked ribbon, 7 mm wide, 32 cm long

•floral border, 1,5 cm wide, 90 cm long

•matching thread

Assembly instructions

Cutting out:

from cotton fabric: 16 x egg warmers, incl. 7 mm seam allowance;

from volume fleece: 8 x egg warmers, incl. 7 mm seam allowance

1 Reinforce eight of the egg warmer fabric pieces with volume fleece on the wrong side. The remaining eight egg warmer sections will serve as linings. Place them on top of the eight reinforced sections, right sides together, and sew them together 7 mm inside the rounded edge. Leave an opening of approx. 3 cm on each to turn it inside out.

2 Cut the ribbon for the loops into 8 cm-lengths. Fold these in half and fix in the appropriate position on, as shown on the pattern, on each of the reinforced egg warmer sections. The loop should be placed on the right side of the fabric, pointing into the middle.

3 Now, right sides together, sew two of the padded sections together a short distance down one side. Press the seam allowance apart and turn right side out. Cut a 22.5 cm length of ribbon and edge-stitch the ribbon lengthwise across the two parts according to the pattern markings. Sew together the dome and the second side of each egg warmer (ensuring that the loop is caught in the seam).

4 With right sides together, pin the lining to the lower edge of the outer pocket and sew all the way round. (NB: proceed patiently and carefully, this is a bit tricky!) and turn the egg warmer inside out through the opening in the lining. Close the gap with a few hand stitches or edge-stitch by machine and push the lining inside.
